Student leadership at West Hill School goes beyond prefects; students in every year group have the opportunity to shape our school and lead on projects close to their hearts.

Our student leadership model is made up of three parts; The Student Leadership Council, The Cabinets and the Offices.

The Student Leadership Council is the traditional school council, made up of Year Ambassadors who bring ideas, and come together to discuss improvements to the school community, using the voice of students in their year group.

Beneath the School Leadership Council consists of the five year group Cabinets, the members of which are made up from all of the year group’s Form Ambassadors. These students come together, under the leadership of a year 11 prefect, to discuss things that affect the year group, and generate ideas and projects that the year group would like to get involved in. Examples include community litter picks and inter-form sporting competitions.

We then have the Offices, who each take a responsibility area that calls for social action. There are currently eight offices in school:

  • Culture and Diversity

  • Anti-bullying

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing

  • Academic Excellence

  • Climate, Environment and Innovation

  • Community and Charity

  • Sport and Enrichment

  • Creativity and the Arts

Student Leadership Office Descriptions

Each office works towards a self-made action plan which includes the delivery of one themed assembly per year, and organise and run one whole school event per year.
