Headteacher's Recognition Reward - Lots of boys joined Ms Cronin today to accept their "huge well done" for receiving the highest number of achievement points last week in their year groups. A fantastic job by all with some very high totals achieved! This means that many of our students are going above and beyond what is expected from them as standard. Many subjects had shout outs from our boys for enjoyment this past week, including English, Maths, Geography, History, Business Studies, RE and Electronics! A great mixture of curriculum-appreciation from our boys. Boys were informed today about the plans to improve their social times. We're currently on 'field-watch' - better weather brings the opportunity to open the fields up during lunchtimes. We're not quite there yet. But we are soon to have outdoor table-tennis tables installed near the already-existing basketball courts. With other plans afoot also, there's plenty to look forward to!

Today has been GCSE Rehearsal Results Day for our Year 11s Following the set-up of the real results day, students discovered whether their hard work during the mock examinations paid off. This time though, they have the opportunity to improve areas where needed. By the time of the real thing, it'll be too late. Will you be happy to receive those same results in August? Now's the time to dig deep and work your hardest for the next few months in order to achieve your best results in the summer GCSEs! You won't regret trying!

This Thursday is World Book Day - and once again West Hill School will be taking part . "Go All In" and bring your passion to life! Dress up as your hobby or interest. Bring a book or text that the hobby is linked to. Costumes should show thoughtful engagement with a specific text. No football-related clothing and no tracksuits. We're celebrating a love of reading all week and looking forward to getting into the spirit of #WorldBookDay with many competitions, quizzes, and joint reading sessions. If you're into it, read into it! #GoAllIn2026 #NationalYearOfReading2026 https://goallin.org.uk/ https://www.worldbookday.com/

On Friday, a group of Year 9 students took part in a BT Virtual Work Experience session The event gave students a valuable insight into what a typical working day looks like at a large organisation such as BT. Students were highly engaged throughout and particularly enjoyed the live Q&A session with BT ambassadors, including project managers and software engineers. They asked thoughtful questions and contributed confidently in the virtual chat The session also included an innovation challenge, where students designed ideas for wearable technology. A special congratulations to Noah H, who received recognition from BT for his excellent understanding of career skills

Headteacher's Recognition Reward - A huge well done to our high achieving students for this week! Gathering in Ms Cronin's office today, boys were congratulated for their efforts in order to gain the top spot in their year group. Future potential school site plans to increase the opportunities available to our boys were also discussed, as well as the possibility for in-school support for our Year 11s, as they approach their GCSEs, during the Easter break. It's always a pleasant exchange on a Monday lunchtime as boys receive praise... just for doing the right thing. Same time next week, everyone's in with an equal chance!
