West Hill School is 99 years old today... and we don't look a day over 21! Next year is our centenary, and we're proud to say that we'll have been educating the boys of Stalybridge and the surrounding areas for 100 years! Honouring our fine history, we want to celebrate this with our staff, students - past, present and future - and our wider West Hill School community. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for any upcoming announcements as we'll be needing and wanting you all to take part. Please share and tell any West Hill School connections that you may have that they'll be invited to join in the celebrations with us.

As football was a love of Haaris', this Friday, we are respectfully having a football-themed non-uniform day fundraiser in his honour. Donations are optional, and all money raised will go to Teenage Cancer Trust. Most importantly, it's the first chance of many for us to celebrate and remember Haaris together Just Giving link in bio https://www.justgiving.com/page/rememberinghaaris?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

Headteacher's Recognition Reward - Two week's worth of rewards saw a larger gathering than usual today. From highest achievers, to excellent work and conduct in Geography, to thoughtful fundraising during Ramadan - all were equally deserving. As we prepare to break for the Easter holidays - with a 12.30pm finish on Friday, together with a whole-school, football-themed, non-uniform day fundraiser in memory of Haaris - this week will also be filled with more recognition of our boys' efforts and achievements. A huge well done to all of today's boys for embracing the West Hill culture and shining just for getting things right

Years 7-10 took part in the further education 'EXPLORE' event at school today. Linking curriculum learning to further education and careers, local colleges Clarendon Sixth Form, Tameside College, and the Greater Manchester Institute of Technology, brought along fun, engaging and immersive stalls to provide our students with a display of the range of education and training opportunities on offer to them in the future. From Construction to Media, STEM to Outdoor Careers, and Apprenticeships to A- Levels, there was something for all learners to help them to feel more informed and empowered about the choices available to them. A huge thank you to @tamesidecollege, @clarendonsixth and @gminstitutetech for joining us on site for the day and for enlightening our students about life after West Hill School

One of our amazing students is proudly telling the world about his superpower Together with his Dad, Jack has written a soon to be published book! Penned in good humour and based on real-life challenges, 'My Superpower' has been produced to help people to gain a better understanding of what it means to live with autism and to be able to look at it in a much more positive way. Showing real teamwork, and also allowing a sneak preview, the book even featured on Jack's form room door for World Book Day Keep your eyes peeled for the publication date! Jack's parents are delighted with how much he's loving his time at West Hill School, as are we! Well done, Jack, for owning your superpower and using it to educate others

Yesterday, some of our year 10 boys attended a trip to Heysham nuclear power station. Whilst there, the boys toured the facility and saw how electricity is generated using nuclear fuel, as well as finding out some of the great career and apprenticeship options available within the nuclear industry Students really enjoyed the day, and staff at the power station were amazed by their impeccable behaviour and commented that they were a credit to the school
