Headteacher's Recognition Reward - This week, boys who showed tenacity, produced notably excellent home learning, and earned the highest number of achievement points in their year group were invited to Ms Cronin's office for praise and their rewards. Students were giving praise today also... to subjects and their teachers! Those getting a mention included, in no particular order ... Mr Butler (Art ), Mr Diamond (Technology ), Mr Roach and Mr White (English ), Mr Garraway and Mr Warburton (Maths ), Mr Cross (Music ) Ms Worthington (Computer Science ), Mr Gray (History ) and Dr Curley (Science ) . Boys have started the year very well and are enjoying their "fun" lessons with "really good" teachers. Congratulations boys. A huge high five to you all! .

Next week, we will be celebrating all things languages during Languages Week, ready for European Day of Languages on Saturday 26th September! There are lots of fun activities all week, including: Our infamous European Bake-Off. A variety of international food in the canteen. A brand-new activity called Passport Stations! Students - Keep an eye out for the Languages staff next Friday and please ask staff about their favourite country and dream language to learn! Let the fiesta commence!

Scholastic Book Fair *Thursday 24th September - Wednesday 30th September* Open to all students. School library. Before school, break, lunch, and after school. Wide variety of new fiction books, graphic novels, quick reads, non-fiction titles, stationery, and value book packs. Cash, card, or contactless methods of payment. 'Wish list' available for payment via the Scholastic website. All books ordered at home will be available to collect from the book fair in school on Wednesday 30th September. Hosting the book fair is also a wonderful opportunity for us to raise funds for our school library, every purchase helps us to gain rewards that allows us to replenish and add new stock for our students. Our previous book fairs have raised over £450 for our school library, and ultimately, our boys. Your support is greatly appreciated

College Presentations Thank you to @oldhamcollegeoc and @ashtonsixthformcollege for coming into school this week to speak with our Year 11 students about post-16 pathways and college applications. Their information and advice on courses, college life and applications are helping students make informed and ambitious decisions about their next steps and future careers. Headteacher's Recognition Reward - Having completed their first full week back in school last week, our weekly top achievement point earners from each year group have now returned to the chairs around Ms Cronin's table! Many new faces achieved the reward for the start of this new school year which was great to see . Boys described enjoying being back at school and seeing friends, and enjoying their Maths, English, History and PE lessons, as well as their newly selected GCSE subjects . Huge congratulations also went to four students who were invited for praise and a treat today due to their amazing fundraising efforts in their own time for Bowel Cancer Research and Teenage Cancer Trust. We're very proud of all of our students... keep up the fantastic work, and keep aiming high and doing the right thing #strivingforacademicexcellence
