Today has been an 'Off Timetable Day' and we've crammed a LOT of enriching and mind-expanding activities in for our boys! An interactive LGBTQ workshop, Q&A session, and real-life play by @hive_north - defining derogatory language as well as highlighting the importance of the use of inclusive language for Years 7 & 10. (Thank you, Hive North!) Year 11s have taken part in walking talking mocks for core subjects - a masterclass where boys worked alongside subject teachers and experts in their fields as they talked through and completed exam papers for all to see. GCSE option taster classes as well as Pathways 1-2-1 sessions with staff for our Year 9 students. Internet Safety workshops for Years 7 & 10, including AI Guidance. Modern work experience for our Year 7s - is it only teachers that work in a school? No. Meet some of the support staff in school and find out what their jobs involve and the skills required to do them. 'Who wants to be a Mathionaire?' and 'Barclays Life Skills - real world money' with Years 7&10. And Year 8 have had a fun day out at Chester Zoo! It's been a change for us all today where important issues have been tackled, student and school relationships have been strengthened even more, and opportunities to do something a little different have been taken

A huge thank you to our year 9 parents, carers and students who came along to last night's Progress and Pathways Evening It was a great turnout, and it is hoped that all who attended now feel better informed about the options process - as well as more informed in core subjects. We hope that with time invested now, together with your support and ours during the pathways choices process, your son is able to make the right decisions for his GCSE courses to enable him to be the best version of himself in later life

Headteacher's Recognition Reward - Faces new and old received a "huge well done" as they gathered together in Ms Cronin's office today. One of our students had set himself the target of gaining the top spot in his year - and achieved it! , whilst another was rightly thrilled as he achieved 'highest in the school' on his debut! With mock exams now complete, and the Sports Hall back to its full use for co-curricular activities at lunchtimes; students recalled their past week of enjoying science, maths, Spanish and technology lessons, as well as using the Word of the Week correctly in order to gain those valuable achievement points. Excellent work in gaining the highest number of achievement points in your year group, boys! Would any other new faces like to join in next week?

The Year 8 Rugby team brought their XV's season to a close, with a strong showing at the annual Lancashire Rugby festival yesterday The team had a tricky pool to negotiate, with the likes of Manchester Grammar School and Liverpool College to take on. At the end of the tournament the boys finished with a record of 2 narrow defeats, a 15-15 draw and a 10-0 win. "The squad have been a credit to the school throughout the season, displaying all the values of a West Hill boy, they are a joy to coach and their enthusiasm is boundless." ~ Mr Wilkinson The Rugby Sevens season starts now, with two tournaments to look forward to at Lytham and Manchester Grammar
