Employer Links
At West Hill we have many links to local, national and international businesses. We work with a number of local companies. We regularly invite guest speakers into school to speak to students and are now setting up business links with each curriculum area. Founders 4 Schools and Speakers for Schools have linked us with many of our guest speakers. We have links with Vodafone, through our CEC advisor and work with Native hotel in Manchester as part the Manchester Hoteliers Association School Partnerships project
In Year 8 students are encouraged to take part in social enterprise by coming up with innovative fundraising ideas for Reuben’s Retreat. We offer both ‘Business Studies’ GCSE and "Enterprise and Employability” as options at KS4. ‘Enterprise and Employability includes opportunities to run a mini-enterprise.
All Year 10 students take part in work experience. This would not be possible without the support of many local businesses and organisations. Providing a work placement for one of our students may be easier than you think. Positive Steps carry out public liability insurance and health and safety in the workplace checks. We will match students up who are interested in particular business areas.
As part of our preparation for transition to post-16, we can recommend suitable candidates for apprenticeships and other training opportunities. We can facilitate interviews at school and carry out the first stages of the recruitment process.
We welcome new workplace links. Any employers who would like to work with the school should read our provider access policy statement below.
