20 July – 18 August 2019
The Next International Expedition
In July / August 2019, West Hill boys will visit Tanzania, the largest country in East Africa. The 28 day expedition will build on the strong links that we have forged through previous expeditions, with the disadvantaged communities of Kenya, Borneo and Uganda.
During the month, we will be moving around Tanzania, staying at a number of different camps and working alongside the local communities to build schools and classrooms, repair houses and toilet blocks and maintain fresh water supplies.
There will be lots of opportunities for cultural exchange. These will include: spending time with the local students in schools and through sporting activities, cooking lessons and farming with the village ‘Mammas’. We will also meet with Maasai tribes.
The adventure aspect of the trip can be summarised as follows:
- Three days low level trekking in the Usambara Mountains.
- Two days on safari to see ‘the big five’.
- One extra day walking safari and wildlife conservation project work in Ndarakwai.
- Four days at the coast, including marine conservation projects and time for snorkelling.
Camps International are an award-winning provider with over 15 years of experience in delivering school expeditions, over three continents and in ten countries around the world. Every year, they support students from the hundreds of schools, who take part in expeditions such as this. West Hill has been working with this company since our first expedition of this kind, to Kenya in 2011.
The expedition costs £3,890.
