Virtual Learning EnvironmentThe Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) at West Hill School is hosted by Tameside Council, and is called Assimilate, part of the Tameside Online Learning Community. It is a new resource to help pupils learn at school and from home. Parents can also access the VLE by using the username and password given to their son. The VLE enables teachers to upload files and resources onto a server located at Tameside Council offices, which can then be worked on, viewed, downloaded and printed - from home or within school, at the local library or even whilst on holiday when visiting an internet cafe! Access to the internet in school is also available before and after school in the library or ICT rooms.
The files types can be Microsoft Office files such as Word or Excel - images, movie files and sound clips - many of the files will be converted into Acrobat Reader files to speed up download times. All files have been checked for viruses and are safe to download to you home computer. The School VLE can be accessed from a link directly at the end of the homepage of the school website or directly at this address simply by clicking on the link below - remember to bookmark the link for future visits: http://geckotameside.net/
