Parents

Plaque to commemorate the opening of the school.

During the course of the school year, every boy will bring home three reports.

In the first two terms, these reports will take the form of progress assessments. The progress assessments indicate in every subject area, whether their performance is below, in line with or above the expected performance for that stage of the year and the pupil's ability. The main report is compiled towards the end of the summer term, after the bulk of the work for that year has been completed and the school examinations have been undertaken.

Parents' Evenings for each year group are held at appropriate times throughout the year. We strongly advise all parents to make every effort to attend these evenings. They are an invaluable link between home and school and afford parents the opportunity to express any concerns which they may have to the teacher concerned. For parents of Year 7 and Year 11 pupils, there will also be a Consultation Afternoon during the Autumn Term.

Around Easter time, we arrange a Key Stage 4 Curriculum Evening to which we invite the parents of Year 9 pupils. The object of the evening is to explain to parents how the option system works and to offer suggestions as to how they might best help their sons in this important choice. Parents also have an opportunity to examine Key Stage 4 work and to discuss examination subjects with the teaching staff.

Any parent wishing to discuss their son's progress or problems is welcome to telephone school for an appointment to see their son's Form Tutor, Head of Year, Subject Teacher, Deputy Head or the Headteacher.
