West Hill Enterprise pupils meet Nigel de Jong
 

Four pupils were invited to the City of Manchester stadium on Enrichment day to take part in an enterprise event. They (and Mr Moon) met Nigel de Jong who is M.C.F.C.'s Enterprise ambassador. The year 8 pupils were challenged to come up with innovative ideas to spread the Manchester City brand. Alan Dixon from City in the Community described the pupils as, "a credit to the school". Year 8 pupils have been taught by Alan this year in an exciting partnership. They have been learning about careers, business and enterprise by looking at how M.C.F.C. operates. All current Year 8 pupils will be entered for an entry level qualification in Business and Enterprise.

Maths

Year 11 Learning Cafés

The Maths Department would like to announce the launch of their new Year 11 Learning Cafés, which will take place Every Monday after school (3.10-4.10pm) in the Dining Room.
 

Food and drinks are available at the Learning Cafés. The topic of the week will be discussed and lots of example GCSE questions will be worked through. They are of great help to the pupils when revising for exams.

Year 11 G & T Cambridge Trip

On Wednesday 3^rd March, fifteen Gifted and Talented pupils enjoyed a day at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. 

During the day they received a talk from the Admissions Tutor outlining the  type of candidate that Cambridge and other top universities are looking for. They also experienced a Social Science seminar, a tour around the college and a valuable question and answer session with undergraduates.

How It Works

The Tesco for Schools & Clubs scheme enables UK schools and clubs to redeem vouchers from Tesco purchases for a variety of useful items. 

Collecting vouchers

• One voucher is given for every £10 spent in Tesco stores and petrol filling stations in a single transaction (excluding purchases from Concessions, Tobacco Kiosk, prescription medicines, infant formulae or the sale of National Lottery tickets and scratch cards).

• One voucher is given for every £5 spent in Tesco Express stores (subject to the above exclusions).

• For every working phone your school/club sends in, they will be given 20 vouchers, and 5 for a non-working phone.

• For every empty inkjet cartridge you send in that can be recycled, you will be given 10 Tesco for Schools & Clubs vouchers.

• Customers then donate their vouchers to schools or clubs, who exchange the vouchers for free equipment.

On Thursday 11 February 2010 the 3 Peaks pupils having completed the map reading stage of the course put their new learnt skills fully to the test at Daisy Nook Country Park.
