Learning Support Unit
The main aim of the LSU is to engage with pupils to promote learning and to encourage inclusion within the school setting, especially for those pupils who are vulnerable or at risk. The LSU provides a base for pupils who have individual needs and for those who have disengaged from education or have experienced emotional and or social difficulties. In the LSU we listen to the Pupil Voice and follow the “Every Child Matters” Framework.

The LSU’s role is to support and enhance the school’s Pastoral and Discipline systems by providing help and support for vulnerable pupils. This is achieved by providing a positive working and welcoming environment in which high expectations and standards are clearly and constantly defined through short and medium-term programmes tailored to meet the individual needs of the pupil.

Our primary goal is to enhance pupils in the learning process by supporting the individuals both in and out of the classroom. This is achieved through liaising with parents/carers, Head of Years, Form Tutors, Subject Teachers, Outside Agencies (Education Resource Team, Children’s Social Care, BLIS, CLASS, CAMHS etc) and most importantly listening to the Pupil Voice.
